Gordale Scar

Gordale Scar with it's cliff faces soaring upwards is a spellbinding gorge. Probably formed by an ice-age meltwater river making incisions through fault-lines in the rock. As the rock towers up it seems to lean in, cutting out the sky, and giving a claustrophobic feel to the canyon. I've tried to make the painting as dramatic as I can, as the place certainly is.
